Title: MINI Motoring Advisor



1. How long have you been working with East Bay MINI?
Almost 3 years. I started in service and now in MINI sales and like McDonalds says: “I'm lovin it”

2. Describe the relationship between the MINI sales team?
We like to think of ourselves as a team as opposed to individual performers. If we can’t get something done then we’ll all work together to get the task done. We’re all pretty much a mini family.

3. Does the MINI Sales team play outside of East Bay MINI?
A few weeks back some of us went go-karting.

4. Where did you grow up/where are you from?
Originally I am from Riverside. I spent the 2nd half of my childhood growing up in Walnut Creek. Now I am in San Ramon.

5. Where did you go to school to learn your tricks of the trade?
I went to St. Mary’s college majoring in Economics and taking my minor in History.

6. When did you first discover you have a love for cars?
Oh man, I grew up around cars and the car culture. My whole family is just total car fanatics. So I’ve always has that distinct love for cars.

7. What’s your dream Car?
Oh man, that’s such a hard question, there’s just so many good cars out there. I should say MINI right? (laughs) well…I’ve always been infatuated with Ferrari, ever since I was a kid. Just cause of the exotic look

8. What has been the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Really and truthfully, not to sound corny but honestly the most rewarding part is when I see someone truly excited and happy that they’re getting a new MINI and I have helped match them with the perfect MINI for their needs and wants. Knowing that you did a good job not only in the sale of the car but in service as well.


9. Do you go on MINI Rally’s?
Yea, anytime the dealership has one, I get to Motor in a MINI.

10. Favorite MINI accessory/feature?
My favorite MINI hands down is the Coupe. It’s sick, it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s supposed to be faster than the John Cooper Works! I think it has the same engine but just a lot lighter and maybe aerodynamic. I love how it looks. As for the feature, I’d have to say the ambient lighting; you can even change the colors to suit your mood!

11. Favorite food?
Meixcan

12. If you were to design a future MINI, what would it be? Body style, features, etc.
It would be an AWD coupe. That would be cool.

13. What are your Hobbies?
Recreationally I play basketball, volleyball, ski and wakeboard. I also play video games.

14. What do you think makes the MINI brand camaraderie so strong?
The customer base is different, it’s not a very high produced car, it’s has a very hip culture behind it as well so that makes it unique; more than any other brand. It has a unique following kind of a cult following. It’s a lot of fun, they have great slogans and I mean it’s a sports car—at an affordable price. Come to East Bay MINI and I will show you how to Motor in a MINI!

East Bay MINI Service Clinic, BBQ and sneak peek at the all new MINI Coupe!


Ever wondered how to pair your bluetooth phone/headset? Have any questions on how to work the navigation system or any other controls? Come on down to East Bay MINI's service clinic!

Employee Interviews - Scott Hunter - MINI Service Advisor

Scott Hunter - MINI Service Advisor


How long have you been working with East Bay MINI?
11 years ago this month! I began as a technician at BMW and moved over to MINI in 2002.

Where did you grow up/where are you from?
I grew up locally in Concord and currently reside in Walnut Creek

Where did you go to school to learn your tricks of the trade?
I am proud to say that I began this career as a self taught technician and since being employed at East Bay BMW and MINI I have reached Master Technician status (highest level training possible)

Tell us more about your pet rabbit “Chili”
Chili is a 4 lb Netherlands Dwarf rabbit that I have owned for 5 years. She attends every rally with me and my MINI, including a 3500 mile MINI Takes The States trip to Colorado. We have a special carrier for her, or she just “chills” on the floorboard, that’s why her name’s Chili!



How has the transition been from being the MINI Shop Foreman to working as a MINI Service Advisor?
There’s been a slight learning curve, as with anything. As a tech I would always have everything planned out, I’d have a routine and I’d be 3 steps ahead in my mind. Now it’s just a matter of applying that to my job as a Service Advisor.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Talking and interacting with the MINI Motorist daily! Just the other day a customer called and left a message thanking me for all that I helped her with. Making people happy and satisfied is what being a Service Advisor is what it’s all about.

How many MINI rallies have you been on?
Over 20.

Share with us an interesting story from a rally.
One of the Rallies actually took us to the Boneville Salt Flats in Colorado. Chili was with us the whole way. Another adventurous Rally was to Iceland sponsored by East Bay MINI.

I’ve heard that you’re very active on the MINI forums. What makes the MINI brand camaraderie so strong?
I am the secretary of Nor Cal MINI’s. MINI enthusiasts are like their own tight nit group of motorists who understand that owning a MINI special and unique to them (aka you-ification by MINI USA). MINI Owners enjoy the car, have fun with personalizing their MINI, and know how to motor on the roads. The MINI brand is iconic, it has a history, it’s a different type of car. Motor in one and you will see!

Do you own a MINI?
Of course! Between my girlfriend and myself we have owned 5.

Favorite MINI accessory?
I like the new MINI Connect feature. You can get it with or without the Navigation so it’s nice to have the screen there with all the cool info if you don’t want to pay the extra for Nav.
